How Do I Troubleshoot My Dash Cam?
Restore your unit to factory settings and format the memory card. Instructions regarding your camera’s reset and format functions can be found in your product’s user manual, which is shipped with your product, but can also be found in our downloads section.
Update your camera's firmware to the latest version.
Will my dash cam get fried sitting in the sun for long periods of time? Is this covered by Warranty?
Our dash cam passed the high temperature test, but we can not guarantee it. Our dash cams come with an 18-Month Warranty. Malfunctions must not be caused by physical or liquid damage. If you encounter problems due to heat damage, just contact us, we will repair it.
Why does my unit keep rebooting?
1. Your dash cam battery may be depleted. Try using a different power source.
2. Customers who are not using a smart hardwire kit but have the parking monitor turned on may experience a continuous reboot of their device. To fix this issue, please turns off the parking mode function and try again.
On my unit, the screen is black but the OK button is blue and I can’t seem to get it to power on. What do I do?
There may be an issue with your firmware. Please visit our firmware section to learn how to update your firmware.
Why does my dash cam turn off a few seconds after I disconnect from a power source?
Our dash cams are designed to be connected to a power source while recording. You need to use the included 12V car power cable or a compatible hardwire kit to provide power. The internal battery is only meant for emergency situations.
How do I lock important videos while driving?
If your camera has voice control, make sure it's enabled and while driving you can simply say "lock video" to save the file in your events folder that's safe from loop recording and will not get deleted.
If your camera does not have voice control, hit the 'ok' button while in recording mode. The file will save to your events folder.
A key shaped icon will be displayed on the top right side of LCD indicating the video file is locked. Locked files will not be overwritten even when the MicroSD card reaches capacity.
Can you set the camera up to record more than a 3 minute loop? Can it just record until the chip is full then start over?
The longest recording time setting for dash cams is 3 minutes. The camera will keep recording 3-minute clips until the memory card is full. Once the SD card reaches capacity, the oldest files will get deleted and replaced with the latest recordings.
This feature is called loop recording, and it saves you from having to sort through and delete files as well having to buy tons of memory cards. It also helps make valuable footage easy to find. Locking your footage will save it to separate folder where it's safe from being overwritten.
Why can’t I play back one of my last recordings?
Most likely there was an error writing the header information to the file, which can be caused by a sudden battery failure. If you have an important file that appears to be corrupted and can’t be played back, please send an email with your file to care@rexingusa.com and we will do our best to try and recover your footage.
Why does my dash cam stop recording after a few minutes?
First, please make sure Loop Recording is on. If Loop Recording is on and you still encounter problems, there may be an issue with your memory card. In this case, please try a different SDHC/SDXC class 10 memory card.
