Installing a dash cam with a rear camera can be a bit technical, but with careful steps, you can successfully set it up. A rear camera allows your dash cam to capture footage from behind your vehicle as you drive, and can provide life saving footage when it comes to rear ends. Here's a guide on how to install a Rexing M2 with a rear camera. 

Before you start, make sure to read the instruction manual provided with your dash cam and hardwire kit. Additionally, consult your vehicle's manual for specific fuse box information if you’re unsure on how to locate the right spot. 

When you unbox your Rexing M2 dash cam you’ll find:

Step 1 Install Front Camera

Plug the power cable into the vehicle’s cigarette lighter and mount the camera onto your rearview mirror. Then, connect the end of the power cord to the camera. Make sure the unit is turned off, and then Insert SD Card. Turn the camera back on and format the SD card, and then turn the unit off again.

(To turn the unit off press and hold the power button for 3 sec. To enter screen saving mode, quick-press the power button.) 

Step 2 Install Rear Camera

To install the rear camera, start by running the power cable along the underside of the interior trim. Mount the camera on the rear windshield.  Place the rear camera in the selected location on your rear windshield or license plate area. Secure it properly.

Turn the camera and stream the rear cam view to check if the field of vision is accurate. Attach the mounting bracket or adhesive mount to the rear camera.

Step 3 Route Power Cables 

Route the power cable for the front camera along the windshield's edge, down the side pillar, and towards the vehicle's power source. Route the cable for the rear camera along the headliner, down the side pillar, and towards the rear windshield.

Step 4 Connect the Power Cables

Depending on your preference and available options, you can either hardwire the dash cam to your vehicle's fuse box using a hardwire kit or use a 12V power adapter plugged into a cigarette lighter socket. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for connecting the power cables correctly.

Step 5 Install & Secure Rear Camera Power Cables

Securely connect the rear camera's power cable to the dash cam's main unit. Carefully tuck the cable under the headliner, side pillars, and interior panels to hide it from view.

Reconnect the vehicle battery and power on the dash cam. Check if both front and rear cameras are functioning properly and capturing clear video footage.

Step 6 Adjust the Camera Angles

Fine-tune the angles of both the front and rear cameras to ensure optimal visibility. Use cable clips or adhesive tape to secure any loose cables along the interior trim to keep them tidy and prevent them from obstructing your view or interfering with driving controls

Step 7 Final Checks

Make sure the dash cam doesn't obstruct your view while driving. Ensure all connections are secure and that the cameras are recording as expected.
